The night before, I hadn’t hung up my food, and someone got in my pannier and sampled all of my PB&J sandwiches. They didn’t take much, fortunately. This night, I strung a line between two posts and hung a pannier on a bungee. In these forests, the lowest branches are often far too high for hanging bags.
The other rodent deterrent was a visitor who stopped by just after dark. It arrived silently in the tree above me, then announced its presence with a WHOO! that could rival a freight train.
Note the horse corral. Pretty nice, eh? This campground, with extra amenities and large spaces for horse trailers, is free to camp. The equestrian lobby is strong.
