How can you get special permission to ride a child on an electric scooter at Disney World?

Question by Shari S: How can you get special permission to ride a child on an electric scooter at Disney World?
We both are handicapped to a degree and have a four year old. I have high blood pressure and asthma really bad and my husband has a really bad back. We are in our late fiftys (we adopted the child) and as I said, our child is four and it is unacceptable to us to have him walk the park and us ride. I know they have rules about a child riding on one of their scooters, but I was just wandering if any one know if they give special permission for such circumstances. I would appreciate only serious answers as this is very important to us. Thanks.

I think the best thing for you do do is to submit your question to Disney World directly. This is too important to take a chance. See 2nd website below for contact page.

  1. I would call Disney and ask them. Disney is good at making any accomodations. Dont worry i bet they’ll think of a safe solution. good luck

  2. If you haven’t booked you trip yet book it directly with Disney to stay at one of the Disney resorts. Call to book your trip and explain your situation to them. They are very accommodating to everyone and they will make sure you are taken care of. If you have booked your trip and you are staying on WDW property give them a call and explain everything to them and again, they will take care of you. If your staying off property I would recommend re-booking to stay on property, it will be much easier of all of you, but if you cannot stay on property still give Disney a call and explain everything to them, they will accommodate you. But call them as soon as you can and get the ball rolling.

  3. If you rent the scooter at the parks then no. its a safety issue. you need to be of legal driving age. can the child sit in your lap?
